inspiration from soulemama
since i have been blogging - let's see its been about four years now, off and on, i have been reading amanda blake soule's blog soule mama. her creativity and world as a mother of four at home in the wilds of maine, have emboldened me to stretch my muscles and begin to knit and craft, whether i finish, whether i am any good, and whether anyone sees or not. here is a wonderful post on knitting. thank you amanda!

birthday project
although i haven't finished the hats for my boys (i am kind of stuck and need to run to my LYS for some help!) i have begun a scarf for my sister-in-law's birthday. i purchased weekend knitting by melissa fallick (recommended by soule mama) and chose the modern, long & skinny scarf. i am using a lovely bamboo/wool yarn in a grayish lavender hue. [stitch nation by debbie stoller 'bamboo ewe' color: mercury] i changed up the pattern up a bit since the yarn is not as big as the recommended. so i CO 14 stitches. but it looks gorgeous and it will totally be perfect for laura, who lives in a very hip part of brooklyn. i am so excited to send it to her. i think i will slip in a good book and some lovely tea and maybe these earrings.

beginnings

dearest reader,
welcome to our little blog. our purpose is to have a connection of creativity between mother and daughter, despite the distance, our busy lives and the intricacies of learning craft, specifically the craft of knitting. grams has been knitting for years, but has in the last few years picked it up again. i have just begun to knit. we will each post our projects, yarn we use, and patterns + pictures of the process and the end product. of course there will be inspirations in addition we might find.
